Successful Completion of Abandoned Projects

Sometimes it happens that a team that started a project can not complete it. Reasons differ, but usually the main causes are either the low qualification of hired contractors, or financial problems that lead to losses in the customer’s main team.

Most of such projects have similar problems. There is no person to explain project details. Documentation is incomplete or absent. The source code is poorly written, with some parts missing. Usually, the customer has little understanding of the technical details of the project. At best, there is an employee who can at least lay down requirements from the user's point of view.

We had to save several of such projects. It is a challenging task, but it is possible. We worked out a set of measures that enable to stabilize the situation, continue work on the product in a normal mode, and start release new versions of product.
