Exchange System for Couriers

The courier exchange system helps drivers and managers find more jobs and increase the efficiency of their work. In addition to the usual capabilities of similar systems to register jobs and log it with sub-contractors, this system allows you to track vehicle positions in real time. Live information of a sub-contractors whereabouts is a core part of the system. In addition, sub-contractors are also able to save a lot of money and time with help of this smart notification system.

Product requirements have been developed by experts with more than 10 years of successful experience in the creation and support of courier oriented systems. Great attention has been paid to the systems usability for drivers and managers.

Ardas team has achieved all the goals set by our customers during the work on the product. Lean software development methods were used and customer´s knowledge in agile software development helped a great deal. Beta-version of the product was created in three months and was launched to couriers during an exhibition in US.

From a technical point of view we found the project interesting because of PostGIS and Google Maps. Google Web Toolkit (GWT) made web application GUI dynamic in accordance with customer demands. There was only one unpleasant episode relating to GWT when we discovered a serious memory leak in GWT after an upgrade to version 2.3. It was officially fixed by Google in version 2.4, several weeks later.

Weekly iterations were used during the project. A stable version was released to production after every iteration result. A lot of effort was put into functional test automation. Our QA team, automated testing and continuous integration allowed us to keep the quality of the product to a high level and allowed us to have frequent production releases. Thanks to our customers who checked and accepted new functionality every day, we were able to develop the system according to their business requirements and make changes to the system where necessary.
